It's Hard To Run & Bike Without Shoes

Went to LA Fitness with Don at lunch intending to do a spin class and brick run. Unfortunately, I got to the gym and discovered that I hadn't brought my running shoes. Idiot!

Normally, I keep a pair of older (but still serviceable) running shoes in the trunk of my car for just this sort of memory breakdown. However, today, that option was not available because my car (and thus my backup shoes) was at the Nissan dealer getting a faulty "park/neutral switch" replaced, which had caused the "check engine" light to be illuminated and annoying me to no end.

So without shoes, I did the only thing that I could at the gym ... swim. I completed another 3,000 yards -and, even better, I did it in 1:02:21 - a new PR for this distance!

My 500 yd splits:

  • 1st 500 yds: 10:09.5
  • 2nd 500 yds: 10:07
  • 3rd 500 yds: 10:05
  • Water/AccelGel break: 0:29.5
  • 4th 500 yds: 10:27
  • 5th 500 yds: 10:26.5
  • 6th 500 yds: 10:37

Almost 2 minutes faster than yesterday. Hey, maybe I'm getting better at this swimming thing again!
